Kakia is a 3D visual artist. She is an architecture graduate from the Technical University of Crete and an MA Communication design graduate, from Central Saint Martins. Throughout the years, Kakia has worked as a visual artist on personal and commissioned projects, within the fashion, culture and music industry. She has, also, worked as a part-time teaching assistant in MA Communication Design in Central Saint Martins. Using 3D procedural software, Kakia constructs complex augmented reality environments that blur physical world environments with computer-generated imagery. Her ongoing artistic research examines inserting futuristic and impossible forms in numerous kinds of landscapes, testing the horizon between the physical and the digital. It explores ideas of technology and ecology viewed from a point of view not completely discharged from the human element, as a means to understand the human as part of a system and not as a stand-alone entity. Memory, consciousness, time, liminal states are some of the themes that run through Kakia’s practice.
