Is it possible to create a space for the live art of performance, when at the same time this kind of art can happen anywhere? What would be the reason, with what means, where and how would a space like that exist?

This project, aims to answer these questions, having accepted the challenge that lies with that attempt. What resulted is a building without any strict functional definition, yet with a notable character. A building in the heart of Athens, existing as the medium through which we come in contact with the contemporary art of performance.

Starting from scratch and motivated by our own experience of the art of performance, we tried to create a baseline for our design process. Theoretical approaches of the notion of performance, as well as those of performative architecture became our reference points. Whereas, typologies and meanings of performative arts spaces gave us our design tools.

Given the grave social crisis, this building, designed from the heart, expresses the need and desire for social, political, architectural as well as personal change. Either on its own, or as a means to the catharsis that art can offer.
